MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Family and Children First Council members, elected officials, educators and others who work with children gathered on Wednesday to learn the results of the Pride Survey conducted last spring through a partnership between the Community Health and Recovery Board, United Way and area school districts.

Sixth-, eighth-, 10th- and 12th-grade students in schools at Centerburg, East Knox, Fredericktown and Mount Vernon were asked to answer a questionnaire about alcohol, tobacco and drug use, school safety, school climate and other factors related to the health and well-being of adolescents.

Wendy Williams, executive director of the Community Mental Health and Recovery Board, said 1,335 surveys were collected, and the data was compared with national statistics.
