MOUNT VERNON — Wednesday’s board meeting of the Knox County Educational Service Center was largely routine, although Board President Richard McLarnan did briefly talk about the devastating financial impact HB 136 could have on local school districts. He said the bill is out of committee and awaiting action by the full House, which most likely will not occur until after the November election.

Regarding finances, Treasurer Heather Darnold said the ESC is “doing all right.” She said there was some concern about the dwindling cash balance, and added “As long as we can pay bills and meet payroll, it’s good.” The board subsequently approved routine fiscal actions and accepted the donation of $695 from The Community Foundation of Mount Vernon and Knox County to be used for Leadership Knox tuition.
