UTICA — Because it would take dollars directly from local funds to support private education, the North Fork Board of Education on Monday passed a resolution in opposition to HB 136. The board is asking the Ohio House of Representatives not to further reduce the resources available to local public schools by transferring public dollars to private or parochial schools.
Such a transfer would have a negative impact on North Fork, as the district is facing a general fund deficit of $10.2 million by 2016 if revenues do not increase, Superintendent Scott Hartley told the News on Wednesday.
Hartley said the rest of the meeting was routine.
Regarding personnel, the board employed Michelle Kern and Teresa Reider as bus drivers, retroactive to Oct. 3 and Lori Cooksey as a transportation aide, also retroactive to Oct. 3. It also approved the certified substitute list and added to the classified substitute list.
