MOUNT VERNON — Plans are moving ahead with paving the Heart of Ohio Trail in southwest Knox County and getting the trail connected with the Kokosing Gap Trail at Mount Vernon. The Knox County Commissioners viewed the most recently paved portions of the trail Monday afternoon, along with Knox County Park District Director Kim Marshall to get an update on the trail’s progress.

Two stretches of trail paving were completed this past summer. These portions stretch from North Clayton Street in Centerburg north to Updike Road and further northeast to Bishop Road near the Hilliar/Milford township line. Marshall explained that 80 percent of this project was funded through the Ohio Department of Transportation with 20 percent coming from county reserves.
