MOUNT VERNON — Because many donors believe it is important to invest in their community and its not-for-profit community hospital, the Foundation for Knox Community Hospital is just $4,800 shy of its 2011 fund-raising goal of $335,000. The funds will be used to upgrade and/or purchase new, advanced-technology gastroscopes and colonoscopes for the new endoscopy suites at KCH.

That information, along with hospital news updates and general foundation business items, was part of Monday’s Foundation meeting. To discover how its fundraising efforts compare with other efforts in the healthcare field, the foundation invited John Goettler, president of Goettler Associates, to speak on the state of Healthcare Philanthropy.
