MOUNT VERNON — Greg Vickers, a former foreman for the Mount Vernon City Water/Wastewater Department, has been charged with petty theft.

According to the Mount Vernon Municipal Court website, charges were filed against Vickers for four counts of petty theft in violation of ORC 545.05(A)(1). Charges were filed Tuesday.

The charges stem from allegations that Vickers used city purchase orders to purchase items for his personal use. The case was investigated by the Mount Vernon Police Department. Charges were filed by the Mount Vernon Law Director’s Office, which had no comment on the case as of press time this morning.

Vickers’ employment had been terminated by Safety-Service Director Dave Glass after a pre-disciplinary hearing on Monday, Oct. 17. The termination was effective Oct. 18. Calls to Vickers for comment have been unreturned.

The next scheduled court date for Vickers is Nov. 4.
