MOUNT VERNON — The Woodward Development Corp., the downtown arts development organization managing the restoration of the Woodward Opera House, has announced plans to open the Shoppe@TheWoodward. This new downtown retail store will be located at 105 S. Main St. and will start operation Thanksgiving weekend.

“We have always envisioned a shoppe in the Woodward promenade area that would serve as a retail outlet for merchandise emphasizing products made in Mount Vernon and Knox County, as well as theater, music, and the arts,” said Pat Crow, project manager for the overall Woodward facility.

The store will be managed by Lisa Blubaugh, a veteran downtown merchant.

“I am excited to be back downtown in the retail trades,” said Blubaugh, “and I am looking forward to re-acquainting myself with many of my former customers.”

The Knox County Convention & Visitors Bureau will relocate their downtown Visitors Center materials into the front portion of the shoppe. This will allow for the center to expand the hours in which it will be able to serve those seeking visitor information in downtown Mount Vernon.

The shoppe will eventually be a point of contact for other facility related tasks, including ticket sales, reservations, and other programming associated with the Woodward. The shoppe will open on Nov. 25. Questions may be directed to the Woodward offices at 107 S. Main St. or by calling 740-392-6142.
