MOUNT VERNON — The end of the growing season was celebrated Tuesday evening when local residents came out to the fourth annual Faith Community Garden Harvest Dinner celebration. Served at Faith Lutheran Church, the dinner featured locally grown food, much of it taken from the community garden at the church.

The menu for the evening featured skillet tacos with fresh garden salsa, dirty rice, chips and salsa, pumpkin pie and fresh apple cider.

“It’s a growing idea,” said Erin Salva, community garden coordinator, who rounded up numerous donors and participants for the dinner. Students at Kenyon College volunteered their time to help prepare the food for the meal, including Natalie Suna and six other willing workers.
