MOUNT VERNON — Thursday’s graduation exercises for industrial manufacturing technologies students in the Adult Workforce program at Knox County Career Center were short and sweet, but nevertheless happy ones for the program graduates, their families and friends.
Students in three disciplines — CNC Manufacturing Technologies, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Welding — received certificates from KCCC board members Richard McLarnan and Mary Jane Theaker during the festivities.
CNC coordinator Dave McGough welcomed everyone to the graduation ceremony, and introduced and thanked the various administrators and program instructors who were in attendance. McGough thanked the students for choosing KCCC and said, “we all learned a lot from you, like I hope you learned a lot from us. We appreciate you guys.”
McGough also thanked the family members who have supported the students through a grueling year of night classes.
“It means a lot,” he said, “to have family behind you when you work all day and then go to school at night. What these guys did was not easy.”
Timothy Wilson is one of the welding certification graduates. His son, a toddler, thought it was pretty cool to see him graduate.
Additional welding graduates include David Clinedinst, Phillip Dreher, Kimberly Edwards, Jacob Gray, Kenneth Hall, Stephen Silliman, Jacob Simon and Brandon Wolfe.
