MOUNT VERNON — The most contested race for school board in Knox County was for seats on the Mount Vernon City Schools Board of Education. Six candidates vied for three positions, and two incumbents, Margie Bennett (3,970) and Jody Goetzman (4,295) were re-elected, according to unofficial results. Cheryl Feasel (3,700) won the third spot.

“I’m most happy that our levy passed,” said Bennett. “That’s what I was most concerned about. We really needed the renewal. I thank the community for supporting our levy and I am happy that Jody and I get to work together again. We will enjoy working with Cheryl as well. I would support the schools no matter how the election turned out.”
