MOUNT VERNON — Johney M. Payne, 24, Mount Vernon, was sentenced to the Franklin County Community Based Correctional Facility as part of a three-year term of community control supervision.
Payne will serve a 15-month prison term if he fails to comply with the conditions of his supervision.
According to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher, Payne was convicted of theft from an elderly person, receiving stolen property and forgery for stealing blank checks from a 72-year-old relative last March. The forged checks were cashed for over $1,600. Payne was convicted of another theft charge for stealing a spool of copper tubing from a Mount Vernon electrical supply store. Payne was also convicted of receiving stolen property for pawning a stolen rifle and shotgun on July 23.
