MOUNT VERNON — Forgery and receiving stolen property charges have been filed against a Cambridge woman as a result of an incident which took Mount Vernon police to Ohio Heritage Bank on Yauger Road, Friday evening.
According to police Detective Sgt. Jeff Jacobs, bank employees became suspicious about a check Miller presented drawn on an Ohio Heritage account when account activity revealed three large checks were recently drawn on the account and made out to the same person. She had cashed one check earlier in the day in Coshocton, Jacobs said.
Jacobs said they recovered $1,800 of the check cashed earlier in Coshocton.
Police were contacted and officers detained the suspect at the bank drive-through.
The couple whose account the checks were drawn on were contacted and it was discovered the man is hospitalized, awaiting heart surgery.
Jacobs said the investigation is continuing and will eventually go to the grand jury for indictments.
Miller already had a bond hearing in Mount Vernon Municipal Court, but as of this morning was still being held in the Knox County Jail.
