MOUNT VERNON — The Energy For America bus tour made a stop in Mount Vernon on Thursday morning as representatives from Americans For Prosperity and American Energy Alliance joined forces in a rally to promote local energy resources.
“We’ve got a tremendous amount of energy right underneath our ground that our politicians have not done a good job in allowing us access to,” said Seth Morgan, state policy director for AFP, in addressing the crowd that had gathered on public square. “And if we can have access to that, you would see your cost of living go down; you’d see the ability of companies to make more with less; and it would give us a great sense of security from people oversees who care little for us.”
Thursday’s rally in Mount Vernon was the latest stop on the bus tour which recently made its way through Ravenna and was venturing on toward Marietta. Visitors at each rally are encouraged to put their signature on the tour bus which will eventually be taken to Washington, D.C., and be presented to Congress as a voice for these groups’ efforts.
