FREDERICKTOWN — Charges of criminal trespassing have been dropped against Luke Gullett of Cardington who was arrested Nov. 25 at a home in Fredericktown.

Fredericktown Police Officer Matt White has been in contact with the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office which has reportedly decided to go in a different direction. The case is still under investigation, and White believes it could be sent to a Knox County grand jury.

“From the information we had at the time, we decided to go with trespassing. If we find anything different, we can adjust it from there and charge him accordingly,” said White. “But in order for that to take place, we have to drop the charges of criminal trespassing. It’s a matter of double jeopardy. You can’t be charged for the same crime twice.”
