DANVILLE — After more than an hour in executive session deliberating, Danville Village Council members set the wages and salaries for village employees for 2012.
Council voted to give a 2 or 3 percent pay increase and a $250 to $350 bonus to several employees, including village clerk-treasurer, police chief, deputy clerk, village administrator, zoning enforcement officer, maintenance worker and seasonal help.
The pay scale for council members ($60 per meeting) and mayor ($4,000 per year) remained the same as before.
Council also voted on two other measures during the evening. They approved temporary appropriations for 2012 and renewed the legal contract with Noel Alden for 2012.
The members also were given a letter from council member Brad Walls, who resigned from the board effective Monday for personal reasons.
Council has 30 days to appoint his successor. Any village resident interested in becoming a member of council is asked to send a letter of application to the village clerk by Jan. 3 at 4 p.m. Council is expected to appoint the new member at the meeting that night at 8 p.m.
With Walls’ resignation, council was also forced to elect a new president pro-tem for the remainder of 2011. Jill Byers was elected to that position.
In other news, Village Administrator Robert Shipley reported the West Main Street water line project will begin this week.
Shipley also said the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency recently finished its yearly inspection of the village’s water system. He will have results from that inspection in about 30 days.
Council rescheduled its January meetings because of holidays. The first meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 8 p.m., while the second meeting of the month will be Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 8 p.m.
