MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Deputy Sheriff Danial Bobo was named the 2011 Outstanding Officer of the Year for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.
Knox County Sheriff David Barber presented the award to the 39-year-old deputy during the agency’s annual awards luncheon, which was attended by Bobo’s wife, mother, friends and co-workers.
Bobo joined the sheriff’s office in 2002, and has worked in the jail division, the Village of Centerburg and is currently assigned county wide in the patrol division. In addition to his patrol responsibilities, Bobo also handles pharmaceutical drug diversion investigations.
He is an Athens High School graduate who attended Hocking Technical College and Ohio University. He completed his Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training at Central Ohio Technical College and completed the Ohio Basic Corrections Academy.
He is a certified Crisis Intervention Team officer, as well as a crisis/hostage negotiator for the sheriff’s office. He recently received a Life Saving Award and has been honored by the Mothers Against Drunk Drivers for removing impaired drivers from the highways.
Barber describes Bobo as “a dedicated, quiet, but very effective officer, who truly cares about the citizens of the county.”
