DANVILLE — Danville’s school board meeting on Monday was pretty routine, Superintendent Dan Harper told the News on Tuesday. He said it closely followed the published agenda.
Besides approving routine fiscal actions, the board accepted a $40,000 donation from The Community Foundation of Mount Vernon and Knox County for the high school track resurfacing project. It also renewed membership in the Ohio School Boards Association and the Metropolitan Educational Council for 2012. The board approved the renewal of a consortium agreement with Ohio School Benefits Cooperative for the purpose of group health insurance and accepted a quote for life insurance rates with American United Life through MEC, effective Jan. 1, 2012, to Jan. 1, 2015.
Other actions taken by the board included the addition of Stephen Kick to the substitute aide list, the approval of Steven Bratton as a volunteer to transport wrestlers to meets as necessary for the 2011-12 school year, the acceptance of the resignation of bus driver and substitute custodian Jeffrey Davis, retroactively effective Dec. 10, and the adoption of a number of new and revised policies in order to comply with changes in state and federal regulations. The board also apporved Shaun Durbin as a junior high boys basketball volunteer.
The board will have a work session at the Knox County Educational Service Center on Jan. 5, and the 2012 annual budget hearing and organizational meeting will be held in the Danville board room on Jan. 10 at 5:30 p.m. with Carolyn Addair serving as president pro tempore. The regular January meeting will follow.
