MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon School Board of Education recently honored a number of local businesses for their support of the schools. The honorees received a certificate of recognition as well as a congratulatory letter from the Ohio School Boards Association.
The businesses honored were: Ariel Corporation; ReMax Stars, Bob Phillips; Danville Family Dental; Rolls-Royce Energy Systems Inc.; First Knox National Bank; Seavolt's Studio; INKredible Images; Shoemaker Roofing LLC; Knox Community Hospital; State Farm Insurance, Kris Brechler; Center for Wound Healing; McDonalds-Mortellaro; Union National Mortgage, Nathan Paff; Mohican Sports Medicine; Pressler and Carpenter Family Dentistry; and Wigal Orthodontics.
The OSBA-sponsored Business Honor roll is a way for schools to say “thanks” to local businesses for their support and contributions. Examples of support include, but are not limited to: Internship/job shadowing programs; volunteering in schools and offering employees time off to volunteer; serving as a mentor or tutor; supporting extracurricular programs; hosting company tours or sponsoring field trips; supporting programs with in-kind or financial support; delivering presentations to individual classes or assemblies; buying ads in event programs; and donating to scholarship programs.
OSBA sent a personalized congratulations letter and a recognition certificate for the district to present to the businesses and they were invited to attend the Dec. 12 Mount Vernon City Schools Board meeting to be recognized for their honor.
