MOUNT VERNON — Jeffrey Williams is the new executive director of the Alcohol and Drug Freedom Center of Knox County.

Originally from southern Virginia, Williams came to Knox County from Texas about nine years ago, and worked in program services at the New Hope Early Childhood Education Center for the Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities. He is currently working on his MBA in non-profit business administration.

Williams said he is really looking forward to working at the Freedom Center, where he officially started on Dec. 5.

“I think the great thing is they have a staff that’s been there a lot of years, a staff with a lot of experience,” he said. “There is a lot of clinical expertise there. That’s really exciting.”

Williams said his focus is going to be on community partnerships and the community image. He also said he will working toward helping the Freedom Center build up the business infrastructure and “get prepared for the elements of health care reform that will be coming down the road in a few years.”
