MOUNT VERNON — Students and staff have completed their first full week in Central Ohio Technical College’s newly renovated downtown home, and the reviews are uniformly favorable.
COTC’s Ariel Hall, located at the corner of South Main Street and Ohio Avenue, has been closed more than a year for renovation, but the school’s Knox Campus is back in town from its temporary home in Fredericktown.
“It’s been a long time coming,” said COTC Vice President of Extended Campuses and Knox Campus Administrator Joel Daniels, “and we’re thrilled with the new facilities.”
COTC’s winter quarter began on Jan. 3 with four full-time staff, 35 part-time and adjunct professors and 392 students checking out the extensively refurbished building which once housed Colonial Cinemas.
From its airy main floor to the redesigned second floor with chemistry and nursing labs to bright new classroom space in what was once a dreary basement, Ariel Hall is hardly recognizable to patrons of the old theater and to those who used the building in the intervening years.
