MOUNT VERNON — The social problem known as bullying is one that has recently been in the spotlight and has been facing students nationally and at varying ages. While efforts to combat this problem have been widely publicized as of late, the issue will be addressed locally in a seminar Thursday evening at Mount Vernon High School.

An evening of information and awareness will be shared by various panel members as well as bullying expert Jim Bisenius. He is a former Mount Vernon resident, a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and is also known as the “anti-bullying guy.” Bisenius, an award-winning therapist, has 17 years experience as a child adolescent therapist specializing in teaching extremely-targeted youth how to handle bullying situations.

“He’s wonderful. He does such a tremendous job with this,” said Dodie Melvin, director of Mental Health America of Knox County, who has attended similar seminars conducted by Bisenius. “We felt he was the best person to speak to those who will attend.”
