MOUNT VERNON — Business excellence across Knox County was recognized Friday evening at the 96th annual Knox County Chamber of Commerce dinner and awards ceremony. The event took place at the Glenn A. Gallagher Centre.
The evening opened with a cocktail reception with dinner following an invocation given by Shar Shingler.
Executive Director Carol Grubaugh started the evening’s ceremony thanking program coordinator Tina Cockrell and 2011 board of trustees chairman James Norris for planning the event. She gave special thanks to numerous volunteers to the chamber.
“A lot of individuals work hard for our cause,” said Grubaugh. “We couldn’t do this just ourselves.” She gave much credit to ambassadors, committee members, roundtable members, safety council and others. “It makes a better and stronger chamber with all of your efforts,” she said.
Norris recognized the outgoing board members and took a moment to reflect on 2011 and look ahead to 2012.
“Financially, we remained strong, with our 372 members, and we are committed to returning value to our members,” said Norris. He then announced Jason Hall as the recipient of the Chairman’s Award.
