MOUNT VERNON — Megan Peterson, 19, of Mount Vernon, was in Mount Vernon Municipal Court twice Tuesday. Once on a preliminary hearing on a felonious assault charge stemming from an incident Jan. 8, and for a continuance hearing on a domestic violence charge from an incident Sept. 16.
On the assault charge, a second-degree felony Peterson was bound over to the Knox County Grand Jury, which will decide whether to return an indictment. She remains free on bond.
On the misdemeanor domestic violence charge her attorney, Brandon Crunkilton, said Tuesday’s appearance was a simple continuance hearing. No new date has been set yet and he expects the case to be settled.
Peterson has been on probation since her conviction in May on vehicular homicide and vehicular assault charges stemming from the Aug. 4, 2010, accident in which Keith M. Homstad Jr., 23, of Johnstown was killed and Ryan M. Thogmartin of Zanesville was injured.
