Removing trees from the river
ODOT employee Stacey Sullins is leaning over the West High Street bridge railing as a spotter on this tree removal project Wednesday morning. Crane operator Mike Moore, ODOT District 5, Jacksontown, had a firm hold on the truck with the clam bucket. The reason for the removal is the trunks can damage the bridge structure. Moore said there is still a root ball under the bridge he could not reach. A plan is being developed to remove the root ball. There are seven more bridges to clear, including the one on Ohio 514 over the Mohican River at Greer. A crew was expected to work on that today. (Photo by Virgil Shipley)
