MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Schnormeier Gallery, located in historic downtown Mount Vernon’s Buchwald Center, celebrated the talent and work of area high school students by featuring a special juried exhibit this month — The 2012 Knox County High School Art Exhibit.
Nearly 40 pieces of artwork were on display. Created in a variety of mediums, from pen and ink drawings and paintings to photographs and scratch board creations, the subject matter was also varied and thought-provoking.
A reception in the gallery Friday evening brought many of the young artists together with family, friends and community members as Jesse Hemminger, who juried the show, rendered his decision.
“The work in this exhibition reflects the varying stages of development where the students are, as well as the universal courage to explore that is a hallmark of learning,” Hemminger said.
