MOUNT VERNON — The winds of change blew across the Knox Community Hospital campus Saturday afternoon as the hospital celebrated the groundbreaking of a new surgical unit.
“We have seen phenomenal growth here at the hospital and we are all excited about that growth,” said Bruce White, KCH chief executive officer. “We have grown 19 percent in surgical services (since 2008).”
The expansion will add a sixth operating room allowing for further increases in the number of surgeries that will be performed at the hospital.
“We have made a commitment to the core services at KCH including pain management, heartburn treatment and wound healing,” White said. The addition to the surgery department is a continuation to KCH’s core services.
