NEWARK — An April 2 sentencing has been scheduled for Spencer G. Lorenza, 17, of Utica, on offenses that stemmed from events on Sept. 2 that led to the death of Hannah Lea Gattrell.
Lorenza was allegedly involved in an altercation at Utica High School then fled while being pursued by Utica Police officers before crashing his vehicle.
Lorenza has pleaded guilty to four charges in the sentencing as follows:
•One count of involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony.
•One count of aggravated vehicular homicide, a third-degree felony.
•One count of fleeing from police, a third-degree felony.
•One count of assault, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.
Lorenza’s sentencing is scheduled in Licking County Juvenile Court where the court will be asked by the prosecutor to classify him as a serious youthful offender, according to Licking County Prosecutor Kenneth Oswalt.
“This would potentially, in the future, allow for the imposition of an adult sentence. But he’s not being bound over as an adult at this time,” said Oswalt.
