MOUNT VERNON — The 2011 United Way of Knox County campaign should exceed its $700,000 goal. Campaign Chair Steve Hall told the United Way annual meeting Tuesday that when everything is compiled, the campaign should finish near $711,455, or 101.7 percent of the goal.
The campaign has actually already raised $722,675, but $46,220 of that is designated for United Ways outside of Knox County. The conclusion the goal will be exceeded comes from a conservative estimate of $35,000 from accounts still to be reported or not yet reported in full to be added to the $649,650 in commitments so far.
