FREDERICKTOWN — The annual appropriation ordinance was the main topic of discussion at the Fredericktown Village Council meeting Monday as the measure received its first reading.

Council will discuss the measure further at the March 5 meeting and it will be up for final approval on March 19. It must be approved before March 30.

The total for all appropriations is $2,845,940, which includes $917,234 in the General Fund, $255,768 in Special Revenue Funds (of which $254,200 is the Transportation Fund), and $1,665,188 in Enterprise Funds (which includes Water, Sewer and Debt Service funds).

Village Administrator Gary Gallogly said he allowed for 2, 3 or 4 percent increases in most funds and there is $212,534 in the General Fund for contingencies.

The amount of money for street paving will be about the same as last year which, as council member Dave Glass noted, will mean less paving will be done because of the increases in pavement costs.
