DANVILLE — The Danville school board on Monday proclaimed March as “Music in Our Schools” and “Youth Art Month.”
The rest of the meeting was largely routine, Treasurer Mary Payne told the News on Tuesday.
Besides approving routine fiscal actions, the board accepted a $2,500 donation from Carol Didinger to the FFA program and an anonymous donation of $600 for the Mock Trial program. It also approved a service agreement with the Knox County Educational Service Center at a cost of $19 per student.
Payne said the board also discussed capital improvements and other projects which need to be completed. She said board members talked about the roof at the high school and gym, the addition of security cameras and upgrading the technology in the classroom. Further discussion will be held in order to prioritize the projects and to determine how they will paid for.
Other actions taken by the board included the approval of an overnight field trip for Mock Trial participants Friday, the addition of Tim Payne to the substitute bus driver list for the purpose of recertification, and the approval of a quartet of volunteers for the 2011-12 girls softball program.
Prior to adjournment, the board went into executive session to discuss personnel.
No further action was taken.
