MOUNT VERNON — Area farmers learned about crop protection options when Mark Lybarger of Lybarger Crop Insurance shared details of the Revenue Protection Policy on Tuesday morning.
“You really want to protect your revenue per acre,” said Lybarger at Tuesday morning’s monthly Farmers Breakfast at R&M’s Southside Diner, organized by the Knox Soil & Water Conservation District, OSU Extension Office, Farm Service Agency and the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
“By utilizing the correct plan which allows the most revenue, you can protect your input cost,” said Lybarger. He explained the quality provisions of the program, which has his company is working with the four county agencies. He also shared information on crop damage, program requirements and program deadlines.
The uncertainty of weather can play a big role when maximizing crop revenue, he said. “The weather is weird anymore,” said Lybarger. “The quality provision in this policy can help protect you. Because of the weather, crop insurance today is more vital.”
