MOUNT VERNON — Members of the Knox County Board of Health were given a review of the 2011 Infectious Disease Report when they met Wednesday evening at the Knox County Health Department. Adam Masters, epidemiologist who serves Knox County, gave a PowerPoint presentation showing various facts about the top health issues in the county, STD rates, comparisons with other counties and case numbers by month for specific diseases.

“Please know that we are developing a plan so that we can use the services of Adam and work on some of these issues,” said Knox County Health Commissioner Julie Miller. Board member Jeff Harmer commended Masters for a “nice job,” thanking him for the abundance of information.

The board gave their approval to the 2012 permanent appropriations and 2013 budget which had been submitted for review at a previous meeting.
