HARTFORD — A large seed corn processing and storage facility southwest of Centerburg in Licking County, was destroyed by fire this morning.

The 80-year-old Clever Seed Corn Co. is owned by James Clever, the third generation to operate the business. It is located at 15218 Downing Road NW off Huffman Road, south of U.S. 36.

The Central Ohio Joint Fire District was the first department on the scene with an engine, tanker and four firefighters. Chief Joe Porter said, “It was going like gang busters,” when the department arrived. The area is in the Hartford Fire District.
