Driving into Mount Vernon on Coshocton Avenue from Apple Valley, Eddie Rodehaver saw two prices of gasoline Thursday at noon. The Duke and Duchess station was $3.36 and across the street the Kroger station had $3.69 a gallon. Before the price went up at Duke and Duchess, he stopped and filled the tank on his SUV. Brian Baldridge, a Danville logger who operates three big pickups in his business, was driving east on Coshocton Avenue and saw the big difference in prices. He pulled into Duke and Duchess and filled the tanks and was happy to have spent only $100 for the fill-up. They drive a lot of miles, Baldridge said, and he was considering calling the drivers of the two other pick-ups to stop and fill up before and if the prices changed.
