MOUNT VERNON — Two police cars showed up at the Knox County Career Center this morning for the officers to stand by in the event there was a problem with getting an instructor to leave the building.

According to witnesses, engineering drafting instructor Steve Jefferson was escorted from his classroom by two administrators and taken to the office. Since Superintendent Bernie Pachmayer is out of the area, Director Robert Kirk had Jefferson removed from the building. The reason, the News has learned, is due to threats Jefferson allegedly made against the school at last evening’s board of education meeting.

Kirk refused to comment on the situation, saying, “We have one speaker for our district and that’s Mrs. Pachmayer.” That was also his response when asked if there was a substitute teacher in a certain classroom.
