A Mansfield driver had a very close call with this tree at 11:30 a.m. Friday. Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Morris Johnson said Anthony Kasper Jr., 59, was eastbound on Ohio 229, just east of Edgewood Road, when the tree fell with the trunk hitting the rear of his 2000 Ford Explorer. There was damage to the roof and rear glass was broken out. The limbs fell across the wire of an AEP power pole breaking it off near the top. Trooper Johnson was at Gambier and Edgewood Road when a passing motorist told him a tree had fallen. An ODOT crew cut up and removed the tree so AEP linemen had room to work to restore power.
