FREDERICKTOWN — Two people were arrested Thursday after an alert neighbor notified law enforcement of a suspicious vehicle.

Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the Fredericktown police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Boyd Brothers Trucking on Sparta Road.

Fredericktown Patrolman Nick Holdren stopped a vehicle in the area and discovered stolen items from Boyd Brothers Trucking in the van.

Sherry L. Reed, 50, Marengo, and Winfrey Reed Jr., 55, Galion, spent Thursday night in the Knox County Jail after bond was set earlier that day at $2,500 each, with no 10 percent provision. The two returned to Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Friday where they entered guilty pleas to one count each of criminal trespass and theft.

Mount Vernon Municipal Court Judge Paul Spurgeon sentenced Sherry Reed to 30 days in jail with credit for time served. Winfrey Reed Jr., was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 120 day suspended and credit for time served. In addition, each is required to pay $95 in court fees and fines.
