MOUNT VERNON — An update was given on the county wastewater upgrade projects on Monday when the Knox County Board of Commissioners met with county water/wastewater superintendent Ray Withers.

“We’ve been pretty busy with the inspection and startups at Bladensburg and Millwood. Not a lot of the special projects have moved forward a lot,” said Withers. He reported on low output being reported recently from the pumps at Millwood.

“They weren’t pumping quite what we expected, so they pulled the pumps and are putting new impellors in. Hopefully that will solve the problem,” said Withers. “They’re supposed to run 80 gallons per minute, and it was coming up 12.”
