MOUNT VERNON -- Your phone rings at home and someone tells you they are a relative and need $10,000 to avoid having to go to jail. Or someone emails you saying you are the winner in a sweepstakes of $1 million and is requiring a payment of $500 for processing fees. Problem is, there never was a relative going to jail or never was a $1 million sweepstakes. And if you fell for their high-pressure trick and sent the money they were asking for, your money is now gone ... you have been scammed.
MOUNT VERNON -- Those running from local law enforcement officials now have another reason to be concerned. The Knox County Prosecutor's Office has a Facebook page that posts pictures and information of local offenders that currently have an outstanding arrest warrant in their name.
MOUNT VERNON -- A press conference has been tentatively scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Dan Emmett Conference Center concerning the future of the center and of the Station Break Senior Center.
