MOUNT VERNON — Everything is now in place for the state to begin the Coshocton Road widening project, Mayor Richard Mavis reported Friday.
City Auditor Terry Scott has certified that the city’s share — $568,527 — is appropriated and available for use. That means the state can proceed with advertising for bids on the project.
Service-Safety Director Dave Glass said construction could get under way in May, but at least by June 1, and construction should be at least 90 percent completed by the end of the construction season, which usually about the second week of November.
Traffic will be maintained during construction, Mavis said.
Mavis said applications for summer employment with the city are available at his office in City Hall. The city will be hiring summer workers for the water park, the parks and other jobs.
Admission prices at the water park will remain the same this year, Mavis said, except that there may be a $5 per person charge to be paid to the Red Cross for anyone taking swimming lessons.
Park flyers have been mailed to every household in the county with children, and also to homes with children in southern Richland County, northern Licking County and parts of Morrow County.
