MOUNT VERNON — The case of Shane E. Roberts, accused of multiple counts of discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises and improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, has been postponed. The case was scheduled in Common Pleas Court today.

Prosecutor John Thatcher said the court is waiting for a report from the Mansfield Forensic V Diagnostic Center on whether Roberts is mentally ill and subject to hospitalization.

At a hearing in February on his competency to stand trial, an evaluation determined that Robert was unable to determine the rightness or wrongness of his actions at the time of the incidents last fall. Roberts was driving in Fredericktown, taking shots at various buildings.

A hearing will be scheduled when the report is received.
