MOUNT VERNON — Vicki Bechtel is the newest member of the governing board of the Knox County Educational Service Center. She was appointed to the board on Wednesday to fill the unexpired term of Lori-Ackerman-Bechtel, who resigned in January.

Bechtel, a Fredericktown resident, said she was excited to be able to serve on the board because, “I like kids and work with kids a lot.”

Kristi White addressed the board during the public participation portion of the meeting. She expressed her thanks for the opportunity provided to her son by the Virtual Academy at the Knox County Learning Center. She said her son, Uriah, had been struggling with school until the Virtual Academy “opened up his world.” The Virtual Academy, she said, helped in ways his typical school could not.
