MOUNT VERNON — On Friday, Knox County Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster sentenced George E. Orndorff, 48, Mount Vernon, to 12 years in prison after convicting Orndorff of four counts of gross sexual imposition.
Orndorff was also classified as a Tier II sex offender with a 25-year duty to register his address with authorities after he is released from prison. According to Prosecutor John Thatcher, Orndorff had sexual contact with a 5-year-old girl on July 22, 2011, with a 9-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl on July 26, and with a 4-year-old girl on Aug. 31.
Detective Tom Bumpus, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the abuse cases.
B.J. Coleman, 41, and Roy Reynolds, 63, both of Columbus, will serve nine-month prison terms for breaking into a Mount Vernon fraternal organization in the early morning hours of Oct. 28, 2011. Sgt. Troy Glazier, MVPD, caught the two men after they exited the building.
Stephen L. Lanning, 19, Mount Vernon, will serve a 30-day jail sentence and then a three-year term of community control supervision for receiving stolen property. Lanning must undergo a mandatory drug and alcohol assessment and monitoring as a condition of his supervision. He will spend 11 months in prison if he violates his supervision terms.
Thatcher said Lanning was caught in possession of merchandise stolen from a store in Mount Vernon on March 31, 2011. Detective Sgt. Jeff Jacobs, MVPD, investigated the case.
