MOUNT VERNON — The cause of a house fire at 301 N. Norton St. on Tuesday is still undetermined.
Firefighters with the Mount Vernon Fire Department responded to a call of smoke coming from the structure at 1:56 p.m.
Firefighters entered the house and discovered flames inside, but there were no visible flames outside, according to MVFD Chief Chris Menapace. The fire was extinguished in less than one hour.
The structure is currently owned by Michael Grubaugh, who is in negotiations to sell the home. There were no injuries reported.
No one was in the house at the time of the fire as the house has not been lived in for many years. Menapace said that there was no electrical service in the house.
MVFD continues to investigate the cause.
The College Township Fire Department arrived to provide mutual aid.
The Fredericktown Community Fire District also provided EMS support in the city during the blaze.
