FREDERICKTOWN — The Fredericktown school board on Tuesday formally commended winter athletes for their outstanding achievements this year.
The boys basketball team was honored, as were individual players Ryan Logan, Justin Snyder and Max Miller. Girls basketball players Lyndsay Briegel, Emily Williams, Hope Huvler and Courtney Jackson were commended by the board; and wrestlers Cody McGuire and Nolan Dilts were also congratulated by the board.
Treasurer Pat Miller told the News on Tuesday the rest of the meeting was largely routine.
Regarding personnel, the board granted the retirement request of reading instructor Chris Well. She has been with the district since 1989. The board issued continuing contracts to high school math/engineering instructor Rober Miller, third-grade teacher Trina Shrimplin and gifted coordinator Kathleen Carpenter. It also renewed various other teaching contracts and employed Duke Carpenter as a half-time custodian, hired Dan Tedrow as head JV softball coach, added Heather Swihart to the subsititute bus driver list and approved sofball volunteers Don Jones, Dave Hurlbut and Dawn Paulo.
