MOUNT VERNON — The driver of a semi-truck was cited for failure to control after his truck rolled down a hill and struck two cars on Public Square early Thursday afternoon. Mount Vernon Police patrolman Matt Haver reported that Lim Hon Hwa of Garden Grove, Calif., had pulled his truck onto the inner north berm of Public Square to check his directions. Hwa’s parking brake either was not set or had failed as his truck rolled downhill and struck two cars parked on the inner northwest side of the square.
One of the cars was occupied by Kayawana Carpenter of Centerville, Ohio, who was shaken up but uninjured. The other car was unoccupied. Minimal damages of dents and scratches were sustained to both cars, and no towing was required.
