Concrete is poured for the new sidewalk project along Mount Vernon Avenue on Friday afternoon. Performing the work were employees of Smith Pavement and Excavating as subcontractors for Small’s Asphalt Paving. Mount Vernon Safety-Service Director Dave Glass said this phase of the project, which will have the sidewalk reach up to Gambier Street and extend west to Quarry Street, should be completed by the end of next week barring any problems. The next phase of pouring sidewalk from Division Street west to Newark Road and installing a traffic signal at Division Street will follow at a later date. (Photo by Alan Reed)
