MOUNT VERNON — Eight indictments were handed down by the Knox County grand jury in April, according to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher.
Curtis W. Hull, 29, faces aggravated burglary, four intimidation and two assault charges for allegedly breaking into a Mount Vernon residence on March 11. Thatcher said Hull allegedly assaulted two occupants of the residence and threatened others there with physical harm, if they pressed charges. Patrolman Jason Payne, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the case. Hull’s whereabouts are unknown and a warrant has issued for his arrest, according to Thatcher. On March 17, Patrolman Rex Young, MVPD, allegedly caught Thomas W. Weigand, 41, Lancaster, driving under the influence of alcohol. Thatcher said the charge is a fourth-degree felony because Weigand has had three convictions for driving under the influence in the past six years, in 2008 and two convictions in 2011, in Fairfield County. Weigand’s whereabouts are unknown and a warrant has issued for his arrest, according to Thatcher. Anyone with information as to Hull’s whereabouts should contact the Knox County Sheriff’s Office or the Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the indictment, Joshua A. Stover, 31, Centerburg, was convicted of a felony domestic violence in Delaware County, in 2009. Stover faces a third degree felony charge of domestic violence for allegedly assaulting a live-in girlfriend, on March 28. Deputy Lee Eppich, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, handled the domestic disturbance call.
Edward J. Dunwoody, 46, Newark, was allegedly caught with a quantity of methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Sept. 11, 2011. Dunwoody allegedly tried to conceal the methamphetamine by throwing a prescription bottle containing the drugs out of the window of his vehicle. Dunwoody faces aggravated possession of drugs and tampering with evidence charges. Trooper Chris Carpenter, Ohio State Highway Patrol, conducted the traffic stop.
Carlos R. Arthur, 47, Mansfield, is charged with possessing heroin. Thatcher said Deputy Ryan Burgess, KCSO, found Arthur allegedly in possession of a syringe containing heroin, during a traffic stop on Jan. 10.
Debra L. Streeter, 42, Lexington, is accused of six counts of theft of drugs. Thatcher said Streeter allegedly stole Vicodin from a Mount Vernon woman on six occasions in March and April. Streeter was a home healthcare provider for the alleged victim, according to Thatcher. Detective James Dechant, MVPD, investigated the case.
Michael Z. Lyon, 22, Mount Vernon, is charged with aggravated burglary, assault, aggravated menacing and three intimidation charges. Thatcher said the night of April 13, Lyon allegedly threatened a 23-year old man with a handgun, assaulted the alleged victim outside his Danville residence and then broke into the residence. Lyon is also accused of threatening the alleged victim and two other occupants with physical harm if they pressed charges. Patrolman Jason Skeen, Danville Police Department, investigated the case.
According to the indictment, Larry L. Mercer, Jr., 31, Mount Vernon, was convicted of rape in Licking County, in 1993. As a sex offender, Mercer is required to register his address with authorities. Mercer allegedly failed to register a change of address with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office on April 6, and he is accused of failing to provide change of address notification. Stover was arraigned on April 6 and is being held in the Knox County Jail on a $25,000.00 bond. Dunwoody will be arraigned on April 20.
Arraignments in the Arthur, Mercer, Lyon and Streeter cases are scheduled for April 27.
