MOUNT VERNON — Two people were arrested after an active methamphetamine lab was discovered at a Sycamore Road residence Thursday afternoon.
According to Knox County Sheriff David Barber, the lab was discovered early Thursday afternoon at 13467 Sycamore Road as the result of a collaborative investigation by the sheriff’s office detective division, Mount Vernon Police and the Mount Vernon Municipal Court Probation Department.
Arrested at their residence were 41-year-old Andrew S. Ellis and his 39-year-old wife, Terra J. Ellis. Both are being held in the Knox County Jail on felony charges of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs. Andrew Ellis is also being held on a probation violation.
Barber said certified clandestine lab officers from the sheriff’s office evaluated and neutralized the cooking operation while units from the Homer and Mount Vernon fire departments stood by at the scene.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Mount Vernon Police Department are active members of the 10-county METRICH Enforcement Unit.
