“I think engineering is quite an expanded industry in our community. We’ve got Ariel; we’ve got Rolls. All those people use engineering courses. I think the board should listen to the public’s opinions. After all, those are the people who are going to be hiring these students. I think that’s the whole idea.”

Terry Scott, Mount Vernon

“The public should have their say. Also, I think sitting down with them and talking is a great idea, too.”

“We pay their salaries. If people have ideas, those ideas should be heard.”

Chris Walker, Mount Vernon

“I really feel very strongly that they need to listen to the public. Then, when all is said and done, the powers-that-be would sit down with them and say, ‘This is why we can’t do it this way,’ or ‘This is why we have to do it that way.’ I think if you take a head-to-head look at people, telling them reasons why we have to do these things, I think, that’s what it takes.”

Nancy Shafer, Mount Vernon

“If we’re paying them, then we should probably have some say in what they’re doing.”

Alesha Walker, Mount Vernon

“The school board should listen to public opinion. We pay their salaries, so in fact they do work for us.”

Sally Wright, North Liberty Road
